House Bill 14 (amended) was voted out of the House of Representatives in June 2011. HB14 was voted out of the Senate on January 31, 2012. The Bill is now scheduled to be signed by the Governor on February 21st at 9:30am. Once signed, it will become law in 90 days. We look forward to the end of 25 years of discrimination in Ohio.

A big thank you to Representative Barbara Sears for introducing House Bill 14.
On January 11, 2011 the former House Bill 79 was reintroduced into the Ohio House of Representatives. House Bill 79 removed the term "pit bull" from the Ohio Revised Code's definition of vicious dog. Ohio is the only state that has breed discriminatory language in it's code. House Bill 79 overwhelmingly passed through the Ohio House of Representatives in late spring, when it was added to House Bill 55 in 2010. The bill became stalled in the Senate and "died" at the end of 2010. It is now Amended House Bill 14 (http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=129_HB_14) .
